The Role: Buyer III
The Buyer III position is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing supplier and product value stream improvement initiatives with assigned suppliers or commodities through the effective use and support of strategic sourcing, cost targeting, supplier performance planning, supplier development, and value analysis/value engineering (VAVE) processes.
- Support and Coordinate with Engineering Department: The role involves working closely with the engineering department to implement VAVE improvements, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
- Lead Strategic Sourcing for Commodities: As a key member of our procurement team, you will lead strategic sourcing for commodities, identifying opportunities to drive cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Responsible for Spends Less than or Equal to $50 Million: You will be responsible for managing spends less than or equal to $50 million, including identifying annual cost savings targets, sustainable cost savings, and total cost analysis impact.
- Negotiate Contracts up to $100k: The role requires negotiating contracts with suppliers worth up to $100k, utilizing your negotiation skills to secure the best possible terms.
- Understand Cost Breakdowns of Suppliers: You will need to understand and interpret cost breakdowns of suppliers, identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Negotiate with Suppliers on Current Cost Elements: As part of this role, you will negotiate with suppliers on current cost elements, requiring strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing Principles: The role involves applying lean manufacturing principles to work, including setting and meeting milestones and expectations.
- Manage Relationships with Peers at Assigned Suppliers: You will be responsible for managing relationships with peers at assigned suppliers, effectively mitigating risk and driving collaboration.
- Lead Special Projects as Needed: As a key member of our procurement team, you may be required to lead special projects, drawing on your project management skills to deliver results.
- Communicate Quality and Engineering Information: You will communicate quality and engineering information/requirements to internal and external resources, as required.
- Utilize Critical Thinking to Make Trade-Offs: The role requires utilizing critical thinking to make trade-offs/concessions, balancing competing priorities and objectives.
