What are the responsibilities and job description for the Continuous Improvement Technician (1st Shift) position at Sparton?
Position Objective
The Continuous Improvement Technician is responsible for providing maintenance and support of key Sparton CI processes that support the fundamentals of Lean Six-Sigma methodologies. The CI Technician will also provide support for data collection and monitoring of key business performance metrics and will participate in improvement initiatives. In addition, the CI Technician will help program support at a floor level, and be a first level coach to the production team.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide maintenance and support of Sparton CI process through data collection/entry, visual board creation and maintenance, Lean Six-Sigma communications creations and support scheduling of audits, follow-up on CI activities for monitoring purposes, ordering of materials and supplies, reserving rooms I setup for Kaizen activities and training events, participation in 6S activities, and hands-on participation in Kaizen events.
Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, utilize proper personal protective equipment.

- Participate in value stream mapping initiatives and improvement activities by working with PIT teams for execution.
- Coach and support floor associates in Lean Six-Sigma activities and initiatives.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment (experience with Kaizen or improvement projects preferred).
- General knowledge of lean six-sigma preferred.
- This role requires a strong get-it-done mentality with lots of hands-on activities.
- Communication Skills: Ability to speak, listen and write well. Create reports and documents.
- Familiarity with Business process management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
- Comfort with speaking to an audience.
