Job Opportunity: Process Tooling Engineer
Location: Logan, UT
At Spartronics, the Process Tooling Engineer is responsible for the design and development of production processes, fixturing, and tooling solutions to support both prototype and full-scale manufacturing. This role plays a critical part in identifying process improvement opportunities, supporting internal Spartronics teams, and interfacing with external machine shops as needed to ensure quality and efficiency in tooling design and implementation.
What a Day Looks Like:
- Monitor process improvement data including flow, efficiency, and layout.
- Plan and schedule maintenance and calibrations on production equipment.
- Plan and execute studies aimed at enhancing equipment efficiency in terms of quality, availability, and throughput.
- Provide training to manufacturing personnel for process adoption and optimization.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop, enhance and implement, robust tooling and process solutions.
- Provide training on Lean/Six Sigma tools and methodologies to build a continuous improvement mindset across the organization.
- Create process documents related to specific job functions.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
- 3 – 5 years related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong understanding of engineering practices and procedures regarding electronic components and manufacturing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with tooling and die design.
- Utilize experience/judgment to develop solutions for moderately complex engineering issues.
- Intermediate level failure analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
- Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office and CAD/CAM.
- Ability to self-manage, organize and prioritize.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Experience with HSM Express or similar CAM software.
- 3D Printing experience with Prusa and PrusaSlicer or similar.
- Experience with inspection equipment and measuring tools - Optical Comparator.
- Experience with laser etching and laser depanel of flex circuits.
