Position Summary
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of field projects within the utility sectorincluding electricity, natural gas, water, oil, or wastewater. This role involves managing field technicians, supervisors, vendors, and operational budgets. The individual must live in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and be skilled at balancing field execution with client satisfaction and internal team development.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Field Operations Manager with a strong background in utility services (electric, gas, water, oil, or wastewater). This leader will manage all aspects of field operations, vendor coordination, safety enforcement, and staff performancewhile driving budget and customer satisfaction goals across active projects.
Essential Functions

Oversee the start-up and/or management of ongoing field service projects

Deliver profitable, high-quality, repeatable results while supporting customer-centric growth

Drive project execution within scope, schedule, and budget with high client satisfaction

Manage and lead day-to-day onsite operations of field teams and support staff

Collaborate with sales teams to understand client objectives and ensure performance success

Assign tasks, monitor performance, and support development of field supervisors and technicians

Promote safety compliance and minimize workplace hazards across all project sites

Track daily scheduling, delays, emergencies, and disruptions, ensuring quick resolution

Utilize project management practices including meeting minutes, action tracking, and risk management

Provide regular progress updates and reporting to senior leadership

Work with HR and training to attract, retain, and grow field talent

Ensure strong vendor partnerships and smooth coordination of field services

Monitor and manage operational budgets, forecasting, and project costs

Lead weekly or bi-weekly production meetings to review status, budgets, and deliverables

Maintain strong client relationships with daily communication and issue resolution

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role requires a balance of field-based work in varying weather and terrain conditions, as well as office-based administrative tasks

Location: Must Reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
Position Type & Travel

Full-time, Monday through Friday (hours may vary based on project needs)

Some evening or weekend work may be required

Travel is minimal (1020%) after the initial ramp-up period and includes site visits and client meetings
Education & Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
-
Minimum 5 years of project management experience in engineering, construction, or field services
-
1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
-
1 year of utility locating or relevant field experience

Utility industry experience preferred (electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater, or oil)

Bachelors degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

PMP certification a plus
