JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance & Accounting will oversee all financial and accounting activities for the organization and its international subsidiary. This hands-on leader will perform the functions that ensure financial statements are accurate, complete and in accordance with GAAP. The individual will be an active participant on the Senior Level Management Team and will contribute to the development and implementation of both short-term and long-term plans and strategies. The Dir. of F&A is responsible for maintaining a sound control environment that provides for the safeguarding of assets and the reliability of financial records. This position requires an excellent understanding of manufacturing and involves supervision over general accounting, cost accounting, AP, AR, Payroll & HR. The Dir. of F&A is responsible for managing the accounting team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The position requires someone who is comfortable in the role of a “hands on” manager. The Dir. of F&A reports directly to the CEO.

DETAILED DUTIES:
· Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close; works closely with the outside auditing firm during the annual audit
· Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information; publishes a monthly financial reporting package for the Senior Managers and Owners
· Oversees the accounting function of the international subsidiary and reviews and consolidates financial statements
· Completes the annual financial projection and measures results against the projection
· Provides accurate and interpretive reporting on sales volume, manufacturing costs, distribution costs and overhead allocations. Ability to analyze and communicate cost drivers to support improvement in productivity and profitability
· Monitors and analyzes the monthly operating results
· Maintains bank and insurance relationships
· Ensures that adequate accounting and financial internal controls have been established and are being followed
· Supports Sales & Marketing and Production with customer and product profitability analysis
· Maintains proper valuation of inventory, ensuring that obsolete and slow-moving items are tracked and addressed
· Performs critical review of all capital proposals submitted for management approval
· Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities
· Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates accounting staff
· Performs other duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Monitoring compliance with Company policies
· Accelerating cash receipts and controlling disbursements
· Overseeing bank balances, maintaining lines of credit and banking relationships
· Establishing and maintaining credit and collection procedures
· Evaluating performance of computerized accounting system
MINIMUM REQUIRED:
· BS Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA, CMA or CPA a plus
· 7-10 years of experience in accounting
· A minimum of five years of experience with similar size manufacturing company
· Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
· Excellent written and oral communication, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees within the organization
· Proficient Microsoft Office; high level of proficiency in Excel
· Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems as part of an MRP system
DESIRED:
· Experience in MRP Implementation or Master Data Management
· Knowledge of & experience with ISO 9000
