The Spay & Neuter Center of Southern Nevada is seeking a dependable, ecstatic full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our specialized team. The Veterinary Assistant is crucial to the daily flow of our hospital. The veterinary assistant plays a valuable role in client customer service and outstanding patient care. The veterinary assistant works directly with licensed veterinary nurse and the DVMs. The assistant is responsible for assuring that the clients are comfortable with their patients being in our care for procedures and vaccinations. The assistant works closely in communicating any medical concerns between the owner and the LVT/DVM, performing thorough check-ins, restraining patients for exams, and executing proper signed paperwork in accordance with the procedure. The assistants restrain patients for surgery prep, shaving surgical sites, and pepping for surgical incisions. You may be training on monitoring anesthesia, vitals, and recovery of surgical patients. As a trusted team member you would be responsible for helping with any rechecks on patients, taking vitals, and communicating follow up treatments to owners. Discharges, cleaning, prepping, and stocking are a requirement. The team member interacts and engages with the patients and ensures at all times the patient is comfortable.

The employee would work an average of 36-40 hours each week. We currently operate out of two locations one on the central/west side of town and one in east Las Vegas, it is a requirement to work at both locations, reliable transportations is required.
Applicant job requirements:
- Able to work with cats and dogs
- Animal handling and restraint
- Good understanding of basic math and reading
- Able to take direction and supervision, with active listening skills
- Monitoring patient vitals
- Communicating effectively with clients
- Obtain crucial history from patients
- Understand and direct clients on vaccinations, spaying and neutering
- Able to work alone with good time management, and with others
- Lift up to 50# as needed
- Can be on their feet, standing, kneeling, sitting for up to 9 hours
- Restock and organize supplies
- Able to safely handle cleaning chemicals
- Maintain a clean work area, along with patient and other treatment areas
- Able to handle and adjust to fast paced high stress environment
- Has an outstanding positive attitude, team player, and encourages a great day!
We ask that the applicant is comfortable around animals, has a passion for helping those in need, able to communicate and work alongside valuable team members, and enjoys working in a fast paced high volume job setting.
All applicants must be able and willing to take a drug test and must work one weekend day each week.
