What are the responsibilities and job description for the (Animal) Adoptions and Foster Manager position at SPCA Serving Erie County?
The Adoptions and Foster Care Manager will play a crucial role in leading the shelter's efforts to provide compassionate care to animals in need, facilitate successful adoptions and foster placements, and engage the community in supporting our mission. This position will be a dynamic leader responsible for fostering a positive work environment, driving change initiatives, and demonstrating strong management skills within an animal shelter setting.
This individual will provide leadership and direction to the adoption, offsite and foster staff members to include recruitment, training and performance management. They will provide a supportive work environment that prioritizes the well-being of both staff and the animals. They will develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and work closely with the Senior Director of Operations to manage departmental budgets, inventory and standard operating procedures. This dynamic candidate will also collaborate with veterinary, behavior and community support services staff to manage the capacity within the shelter.
The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to increase adoptions and oversee the adoption process throughout all stages. They will coordinate adoption events and promotions within the community. They will also manage foster care by matching and monitoring the animals within this program, as well as the foster care parents, providing necessary support and information. Alongside the Offsite Coordinator, they will develop and maintain relationships with community partners such as rescue organizations and pet stores. They will plan and participate in outreach events and educational programs to promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals. This individual will serve as a resource for the community and provide support to them.
