What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Support Services Consultant position at SPCA Serving Erie County?
Community Support Service Consultants are responsible for working with the public to determine the best plan for an animal that may need to be surrendered. This position deals with a broad scope of situations regarding animal surrender that may be emotionally charged.
The successful candidate will thrive in this fast-paced position and will be adaptable, compassionate, organized, and forward-thinking. The individual best suited for this role will enjoy working with people as much as helping animals. This is either a full-time or part-time opening and is benefits-eligible. Saturday availability required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answering and/or returning phone calls regarding general shelter inquiries, and/or general admission policies and procedures
- Interview the animal owner or individual that needs to surrender an animal to determine why the animal needs to be admitted and how to best help the owner
- Scheduling appointments, quoting fees, and contacting veterinarians for medical records when applicable
- Provide clear and concise information on intake and foster procedures
- Communicate with about animals who are eligible for foster placement or are currently in foster care
- Gather supplies needed by foster families for their foster animals
- Be detail-oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task

Pay: $15.35 per hour
