What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Services Manager position at SPCA Serving Erie County?
The Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s volunteer program including recruiting, onboarding, data management and retention of volunteers. This dynamic individual will also ensure that all SPCA departments and programs have sufficient volunteers to meet their individual needs. They will coordinate and facilitate the volunteers, under the direction of the Development Team, for company events and functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide guidance, support, and tools to the staff who supervise and work with the volunteers.
- Serve as the primary contact for current and potential volunteers.
- Create volunteer program materials (SOP’s, applications, job descriptions, onboarding, trainings, etc.).
- Communicate with all departments to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.
- Recruit volunteers to fit these roles using a variety of resources and approaches.
- Match volunteers with opportunities that suit their skills and serve the needs of the organization.
- Coordinate the onboarding process and mandatory trainings prior to start date.
- Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure satisfaction with placement.
- Maintains files, records, applications and other data concerning the program.
- Drafts and publishes guidelines, best practices and procedures for the volunteer programs.
- Coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
- Ensure that volunteers work in a safe and supportive environment in accordance with regulations.
- Speak knowledgeably and professionally about the SPCA’s mission, programs and services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of related experience (including supervisory experience)
- Prior volunteer coordination experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to build rapport with others
- Microsoft Office and computer skills
- Experience with Better Impact (or similar software) and Sign Up Genius preferred

Expected hours: 40 per week
