Director, Product Management
Spear Bio has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Product Management to lead the development, launch, and lifecycle management of our expanding portfolio of research products, including ultrasensitive immunoassay kits, instruments, and software. The Director will play a key role in translating strategic product plans into execution. Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day product management across immunoassay, instrument, and software workstreams
- Translate product strategies into actionable roadmaps, timelines, and user requirements
- Lead cross-functional teams in defining product features, coordinating development, and preparing for launch
- Drive voice-of-customer efforts to gather insights, define user personas, and validate product-market fit
- Support business case development, pricing models, and go-to-market planning for new product introductions
- Coordinate product evaluations and feedback collection for continuous product improvement
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to manage tradeoffs on features, timelines, and technical risks
- Track and report on product performance metrics and post-launch feedback to guide product updates
- Monitor competitor offerings, industry trends, and market shifts to inform product positioning
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field; MS/PhD or MBA a plus
- 6 years experience leading end-to-end product management (ideation through product launch post-market support) in the life sciences or diagnostics industry REQUIRED
- Strong understanding of immunoassays, laboratory workflows, and scientific instrumentation REQUIRED
- Experience working with product development teams on software and/or instrument components
- Experience writing product requirements and managing cross-functional development timelines
- Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize customer, technical, and business inputs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
- Flexibility & willingness to travel up to 20–25% for customer site visits, product evaluations, and industry events
