Physician Assistant 

General Summary: 

Performs medical examinations, selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and other procedures under the supervision of a physician as defined by the NH Board of Medicine, to assist in the delivery of medical services to patients. 

Essential Job Functions*: 

• Works collaboratively with physician in management of patient caseload for medical practice. 

• Takes medical histories and performs physician examinations, utilizing diagnostic techniques such as observation, palpation, percussion or auscultation.   

• Evaluates physical signs, symptoms and medical history to assess patient’s condition. 

• Orders and interprets laboratory tests and radiological examinations. 

• Recognizes and evaluates patients who require the immediate attention of a physician and when necessary, initiates, without supervision, emergency medical treatments. 

• Performs laboratory and therapeutic procedures Administers treatment and medications. 

• Instructs and counsels patients in matters pertaining to their physical and mental health. 

• Maintain and sign medical records pertaining to treatments and examinations administered and submit all charges for services on timely basis. 

• Maintain all requirements for licensure including continued medical education 

• Actively participate in the hospital’s quality and patient experience programs; working with the team to continually improve the patient experience.   

•  Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job. 

• Demonstrates hospital’s stated mission and values of teamwork, respect and communication with co-workers, patients, families and visitors. 

• Actively and appropriately participates in problem-solving identification and resolution, both intra- and inter-departmentally. 

• Meets department customer service standards and strives to enhance the level of customer service provided.     

Qualifications: 

• Education  

Required:  Bachelor of Science degree and graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.  

• Work Experience 

Required: None 

Preferred: 1-2 years as Orthopedic Physician Assistant 

• Licensure/Certifications/Registrations 

Required:  New Hampshire Board of Medicine licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant
