POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sales & and Marketing Coordinator is a hybrid position designed for someone with experience and interest in sales and marketing.
He/she/they will report to company’s Business Development Manager (BDM) and will be responsible for lead generation and sales support expand sales and marketing efforts for Special D Events and its subsidiary, The Anniversary Company. This responsibility is expected to take up 90% of the coordinator’s time. The remainder of the time, he/she/they will support a robust department of meeting and event planners with event planning certain needs and requests.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing (30%)
Lead the organization’s marketing efforts
- Conduct market research
- Maintain Marketing Command Center and execute tasks as assigned
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns
Determine campaign objectives, strategies, and tactics
Create marketing copy for email campaigns
Execute email campaigns
Track and report results
Schedule meetings, book meeting space, populate agenda
Update the Marketing Command Center
Conduct market research
Research potential clients
Analyze competitor websites, social media
Manage two company websites, creating content and serving as liaison with company’s web design firm
Create and publish content for company’s social media accounts
Maintain, analyze and update data in CRM (HubSpot)
Collaborate with graphic designer and/or use design tools (Canva) to produce marketing materials
Write and edit content for website and social media, analyze results. Analyze and report on results of marketing efforts
Monitor KPIs & report out
May develop and execute marketing campaigns
Determine campaign objectives, strategies, and tactics
Create marketing copy for email campaigns
Execute email campaigns
Track and report results
Distribute quarterly TAC newsletter
Represent company at industry networking events (often during evening hours, and often in Detroit).
Populate the SDE/TAC Staff Calendar in Outlook with appropriate sales team activities, as well as populate Marketing Team SmartSheet pages (Monthly Marketing Meeting Agenda, Marketing Tasks, Initiatives, Ideas)
Sales (60%)
Monitor key external sites for incoming leads
DMCVB portal
Qualify incoming leads and communicate with prospects as directed.
Reach out to all qualified leads to start the conversation/sales process.
Long-term scouting for TAC (i.e. companies in Michigan turning 100 in 2026, etc.)
Collaborate with Business Development Manager to
Write, price and Produce and deliver proposals.
Assist in proposal pricing
Close sales. Handle objections by clarifying and working through differences to a positive conclusion
Meeting/Event Department Support (10%)
Plan
Assist Meeting/Event Managers with event and meeting related tasks such as
Pricing event elements; building budgets
Conducting site research
Conduct event vendor and/or venue research.
Provide administrative support for meeting/events department.
Event Registration Support
Produce and proofread materials such as agendas, programs, signage, and name tags.
Assemble attendee materials.
Manage Resources Resource Management
Manage company’s vendor and venue database.
Manage Canva file storage and event photo storage
Produce sales reports through our CRM, Hubspot
Other duties as assigned
Maintain company standard operating procedures as they relate to sales, marketing and public relations.
Answer main phone line (typically incoming sales calls).
Submit weekly forecast reports to Ops/Finance
Scan both TAC and SDE websites weekly to identify tech issues
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree with (major or concentration in Marketing, Sales, Events, Hospitality or related discipline preferred, but not required or 2 years of relevant experience with a professional services or hospitality company.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail. Solid project management skills: ability to organize, prioritize, assess risks, manage resources and achieve milestones and deliverables.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, project management, time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes/deadlines.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate clear, concise information to a variety of internal/external stakeholders, vendors, etc.
- High ethical standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Punctual, accurate, dependable, attentive to details, and dedicated to achieving operational excellence through events that meet and/or exceed client and participant expectations.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to create lasting partnerships with stakeholders, colleagues, vendors, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to remain focused and professional during unanticipated event challenges.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Daily email (checking and responding) is required, sometimes after hours.
- Immediate response is required to all incoming sales calls, sometimes after hours.
- Work is to be performed on site at SDE/TAC office in Detroit, Royal Oak or Ann Arbor, at home office, or at event sites.
- Employee will have some ability to set his/her own schedule, assuming job requirements and deadlines are met. Monitoring client communications during normal business hours is required.
- 40 hours per week although this person may be occasionally called upon to work additional hours.
- Light physical activity.
LOCATION & TRAVEL:
Special D Events is a virtual organization, so this position is remote. However, we maintain hub locations in Detroit, Royal Oak and Ann Arbor where team and client meetings are often held.
Local travel may be required to attend industry or networking events, meet with prospects and clients, make presentations, etc. in the Metro Detroit area, often in Detroit.
Nationwide travel may be required to meet clients or attend events.
