TITLE: Direct Support Worker
DIVISION:_ Adult Services_
REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma, GED or verifiable work experience.
-Must have a clean driving record and documented automobile insurance as required by state law. Job requires the ability to provide transportation for participants as needed.
-Physical ability to help participants during training and in time of personal need. This may require lifting, assistance in training, and pushing or pulling of wheelchairs and other apparatus. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs. with assistance.
-Ability to remain calm and positive during stressful situations.
-Positive attitude toward people with disabilities.
FUNCTION:
Support Staff will deliver direct training services to participants in the adult services program. He/she will assist the Program Services Manager, QIDP, Medicaid Coordinator and/or the Executive Director in developing S.E.D. #1 training programs, as well as, community based vocational opportunities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Support Staff will be knowledgeable with S.E.D. #1 policies and procedures as set forth in the S.E.D. #1 Policy Manual and S.E.D. #1 Handbook.
2. Assist the Program Services Manager, QIDP and/or Medicaid Coordinator in planning, organizing, and supervising assigned service area according to policy and procedures as outlined in the S.E.D. #1 Policy Manual and S.E.D. #1 Handbook.
3. Provide direct training for participants and assist participants in their social, behavioral, and vocational development.
4. Assist the Program Services Manager, QIDP and/or Medicaid Coordinator in the completion of proper documentation required for tracking client progress.
5. Complete client payroll and community-based service records.
6. Maintain complete and accurate client payroll and community service records.
a. Payroll - turn in on assigned due dates.
b. Service and sales tickets - daily.
7. Actively participate in the IHP, ISP, CPOC processes.
8. Accept and carry out directions from the Executive Director and/or Program Services Manager, QIDP or Medicaid Coordinator in a professional and timely manner.
9. Provide specialized care needed by participants.
10. Adhere to confidentiality policies concerning participants, families, and co-workers.
11. Follow lunch and bus duty schedule as assigned.
12. Document all incidents and accidents immediately.
13. Follow job safety standards as outlined in the S.E.D. #1 Handbook.
14. Effectively communicate as needed with:
a. Participants.
b. Co-workers.
c. Parents.
d. Interagency Personnel.
e. Customers.
f. Executive Director.
15. Support Staff will manage the services to training participants in the absence of the Program Services Manager, QIDP or Medicaid Coordinator.
16. This is a 40 hour per week position and requires staff to drive an agency vehicle daily.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Promote the agency and its mission in providing services and supports to people with disabilities.
2. Attend training sessions and acquire certifications as needed.
3. Actively participate in planning sessions.
4. Maintain punctuality and attend work the required number of days.
5. Maintain flexibility and accept new job duties as assigned.
