Job Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COPA) is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Minimum of an associate degree or higher |

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:

Interprets assessment results for teachers, parents, and other personnel under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) |
|
Supports the individual education plan for occupational therapy goals and treatment for eligible students, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) |
|
Administers occupational therapy in accordance with the treatment plan as stated in the individual education plan and under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) |
|
Performs on-going evaluation of treatment programs and adapts program as necessary to maximize results under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) |
|
Selects and manages adaptive equipment and/or assistive devices for use with upper trunks, arms, and hands, and aids in elimination of architectural barriers under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) |

Maintains appropriate records and reports |
|
Lifts, positions, transfers, and performs special duties to meet the needs of moderately intellectually disabled, severely and profoundly intellectually disabled, and orthopedically impaired students |

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee |
