Summary
The Accountant manages financial processes and ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting standards for Special Kids, Inc., LLC, and SK Therapy. In addition, they provide essential financial insights that help drive and support our organization's mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain and reconcile financial records, including donations, grants, and organizational expenses.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Prepare and reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Generate and analyze financial reports for the executive team and board of directors.
- Prepare and manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with nonprofit accounting principles.
- Oversee annual audits and nonprofit tax filings, including Form 990.
- Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and nonprofit financial regulations.
- Collaborate with leadership to prepare the annual budget and financial plan.
- Implement and maintain financial controls to safeguard organizational assets.

This position supervises the financial clerk role.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Required:
- Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn web-based applications.
- Strong knowledge of financial reconciliations, reporting, and compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting and grant tracking.
- Familiarity with nonprofit tax filings (e.g., Form 990) and audit processes.
- Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Business, Finance, or Accounting, and three to five years related experience and/or training.
