Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is a Colorado 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization founded in 1998 in Colorado Springs. As a 25-year-old nonprofit, we are seeking talented and passionate individuals eager to join our mission and make a difference in the disabilities space by helping us create a one-of-a-kind therapeutic experience and continuum of care. Our goal is to support and strengthen children and their families and change the trajectory of their lives by teaching them coping skills, providing emotional support, and promoting healthy living habits that build successful lives and family units.
Duties
We are looking for a Child and Family Therapist who is motivated by having the ability to make a life-changing difference for the people we are blessed to serve. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to pull alongside kiddos and their families in a variety of settings and offer help and hope and the promise of a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Our Child and Family Therapist is part of our Behavioral Health team but integrated into all programs to provide counseling services and skills training, employing behavioral health / management strategies to serve individuals, children and youth with developmental disabilities and their families. Services will be provided at SKSF's Zach's Place daycare / respite center, our admin facility and in the foster setting.
Population We Serve
- Children with varying special needs and behavioral challenges enrolled at our Zach's Place daycare and respite center, the only licensed daycare center in the region providing services to children with disabilities.
- Parents and families of children with disabilities.
- Children currently living in an out-of-home placement with the goal of returning home to their families.
- Parents needing support and parenting skills development to better care for and meet the needs of their children who are being prepared to return home.
- Children and adults with developmental disabilities to strength and support their families.
