LICENSE SCHOOL SPECIALIST PSYCHOLOGY (LSSP)

PRIMARY PURPOSE: TO PROVIDE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT, COUNSELING AND CONSULATATIVE SERVICES. 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Follow the ethical guidelines of psychologists as delineated by the American Psychological Association and the national Association of School Psychologists. 

 

2. Follow federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules and procedures. 

 

3. Provide assessment, counseling and consultation services. 

 

4. Assess the intellectual, educational, emotional and psychological functioning of eligible students. Assessment may include the following: language, behavior, physical functioning, and sociological factors. 

 

5. Conduct evaluations in a thorough and timely manner, accessong relevant sources of information and providing for optimal student performance. 

 

6. Prepare thorough and understandable reports, including completion of TEA eligibility reports. 

 

7. Communicate orally results of assessment to ARD Committee members in an effective manner, including provision of suggestions for student who do not qualify for special special services. 

 

8. Upon completion of assessments, provide to the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committe and parent(s) a written report of assessment which include sufficient information to determine whether the student has a disability and is eligible for special education services. 

 

9. Provide assessments results which assist the ARD committee in its development of an individualized education plan (IEP) for eligible students. 

 

10. Provide individual and group counseling to students concerning problems resulting from the student's diability. 

 

11. Complete required documentation during committee proceedings for initial placement and re-evaluation ARD Committee meetings. Assume responsibility for the arrangement of certain ARD Committee meetings. 

 

12. Assist the ARD Committee in reviewing the appropriateness of educational plans and/or placement at initial and re-evaluation meeting or when assessment is to be considered. 

 

13. Work with regular and special education teachers regarding students in special education procedures. 

 

14. Work with parents for interpretation of assessments and other special educational procedures. 

 

15. Serve as liaison between between parent, school, and community agencies. 

 

16. Assist in the organization and maintenance of confidential files. 

 

17. Participate with all special education personnel in the planning, implemenation, and evaluation of appraisal services. 

 

18. Actively participate in the organization and implementation of annual in-service programs, curriculum development efforts, professional growth options and appropriate organizational. 

 

19. Assist upon request in the orientation of district personnel concerning special education. 

 

20. Assit when requested in programs for and orientation of parents and community groups concerning special services. 

 

21. Consult with school professional, parents, and outside agencies in developing crisis intervention plans for students. 

 

22. Counsel directly with students in crisis when necessay and appropriate. 

 

23. Provide appropriate follow-up to students who have been in a crisis.

 

24. Participate in reviewing and updating crisis procedures. 

 

25. Maintain composure in stressful situations. 

 

26. Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct

 

27. Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance. 

 

28. Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel. 

 

29. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously. 

 

30. Support and follow administrative and board policy 

 

31. Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way. 

 

32. Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons. 

 

33. Perform other duties as assigned by the director.

Maintain emotional control under stress, frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks; media equipment, desk, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT;

 

Work year established by the board; salary according to current schedule. 

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
