Responsibilities

The Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, or physical challenges. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their goals, maintain independence, and enhance their quality of life. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who values making a positive impact in others' lives.

Essential Duties

Individualized Support:

• Assist individuals in their daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and promoting independence.
• Provide transportation and accompany individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings.
  
  

Skill Development

• Teach and support individuals in developing life skills, such as communication, money management, and social interactions.
• Encourage participation in recreational and educational activities.
  
  

Advocacy And Empowerment

• Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals, ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity.
• Empower individuals to make choices and take an active role in their own lives.
  
  

Health And Safety

• Monitor and support individuals' physical and emotional well-being.
• Administer medications and follow care plans as directed.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow safety protocols.
  
  

Documentation And Communication

• Maintain accurate records of services provided, progress notes, and any changes in an individual’s condition.
• Communicate effectively with team members, families, and other professionals.
  
  

Team Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with other staff, supervisors, and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
  
  

Qualifications

The Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Article 9 Certification
• Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with disabilities (preferred but not required).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required for some positions).
• Ability to pass a background check and any required certifications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
