Overview
The Graduation Coordinator facilitates post-secondary planning, helping students navigate the transition from high school to their future endeavors beyond graduation. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of the Pennsylvania Act 158 graduation pathways, ensuring students have access to various options to demonstrate college and career readiness beyond just standardized testing, including coordinating student tracking, pathway selection, and communication with stakeholders to facilitate successful graduation for all students under the Act 158 guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Act 158 plan :
- Create a comprehensive plan for the campus that aligns with state regulations, outlining the various graduation pathways available to students under Act 158.
- Advise students and their families on different Act 158 pathways including career and technical education options, advanced placement courses, industry certifications, and other relevant pathways.
- Student Tracking and Monitoring :
- Regularly monitor student progress towards graduation through the chosen Act 158 pathway, identifying potential barriers and providing necessary interventions.
- Analyze student data to identify trends to inform decision-making pathway selection, program effectiveness, and areas for improvement.
- Community Collaboration :
- Build partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and community organizations to provide students with relevant career exploration opportunities and post-secondary pathways.
- Coordinate meetings and workshops with community partners and external agencies to enhance support services.
- Compliance with regulations :
- Ensure the campus adheres to all state mandates and guidelines related to Act 158 graduation requirements.
- Monitoring & Evaluation :
- Monitors completion of FAFSA and Xello requirements or other technical platforms.
- Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness and monitor each student's Act 158 progress.
- Prepare regular reports for school leadership outlining outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Share progress and data with the student's education team.
- Professional Development :
- Provide training and guidance for staff to ensure best practices for Act 158 requirements.
- Stay current on educational trends, policies, and research related to student transitions and integrate findings into program improvements.
