Accounts Payable Specialist (Part-Time)
Approximately 25 hours per week
NE Portland – onsite
$22-$24 per hour DOE
General Responsibilities:
- Assist with high-volume Accounts Payable (AP) processing: Help manage the influx of invoices, particularly during the company’s peak season when the workload increases substantially, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Prepare for weekly check runs: Collaborate with the team to prep weekly check runs. Ensure that all necessary documentation and approvals are in place before checks are issued.
- Invoice matching and discrepancy resolution: Diligently match invoices to corresponding packing slips, identify and resolve any discrepancies, and ensure all invoices are correctly loaded into the system for prompt payment.
- Utilize remote deposit capture for banking transactions: Use remote capture technology to streamline the deposit process and ensuring efficient and secure banking transactions.
- Cross-training for AR and vacation coverage: Assist with cross-training in Accounts Receivable (AR) tasks to ensure you can provide full support and coverage for the AR Specialist when needed. This includes understanding the nuances of AR processes to maintain smooth operations during absences or vacation periods.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on accounting experience, specifically in Accounts Payable (AP). Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the entire accounts cycle, with the ability to differentiate between AP and AR functions.
- Knowledge of debits and credits: A strong grasp of basic accounting principles, including the ability to distinguish between debits and credits, as well as how they apply within an accounting environment.
- Attention to detail: Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, especially when processing invoices and preparing check runs.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn: While prior accounting experience is required, the team values individuals who are open to learning the company's specific processes and are willing to adapt to the unique aspects of their system and workflow.
