About the Role:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant with construction industry experience to join our team. This role plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy across multiple projects and supporting the overall success of our construction operations. Responsibilities:
- Process payroll, preferably through a third-party payroll service
- Manage financial reporting and budgeting for construction projects
- Track project costs and compare to budgets to ensure cost control
- Review and process subcontractor invoices and vendor payments
- Coordinate with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, and billing schedules
- Prepare and submit owner billings (AIA documents or similar formats)
- Maintain contract documentation including change orders, purchase orders, and lien waivers
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting requirements, when applicable
- Reconcile job cost reports and general ledger accounts
- Assist with monthly closings and project audits
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (highly preferred) or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role
- Payroll experience, ideally using a payroll service provider
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of construction job costing, contracts, and billing
