Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Financial Analyst for a full-time opportunity in the local government of Durham, NC.
As a Financial Analyst, you will provide financial and governance support to the IT operations of the local government. This includes complex analysis and oversight of the departmental budget and performance.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) position with a target compensation of $34.00 - $38.00/hour. The contract length is open-ended, with the possibility of converting to permanent employment. This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office attendance in Durham 1-2 days per week (though you may be required to report in-person more frequently during the first few weeks of the position, as you train and become familiar with processes).
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and regularly monitor budget adherence, identifying areas of cost optimization for procurement.
- Develop financial models, budgetary forecasts, and IT contracts to govern fiscal performance, business operations, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the department’s financial health and performance.
- Analyze market trends to provide recommendations that supports the effective management of IT assets through their respective portfolio aligned maintenance plans.
- Identify financial risks and recommend strategies for risk mitigation to optimize financial stability.
- Prepare and present clear and concise financial reports to senior management, offering insights into financial trends and opportunities for improvement.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business accounting, Finance, or directly related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in accounting / financial management or closely related field.
- Proficiency skills in MS Office applications (ex. PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Proficiency in data analytics.
- Experience in organizational budget monitoring and analysis.
- Experience utilizing enterprise ERP systems
