We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Safety Manager to oversee and implement safety programs, ensure compliance with regulations, and promote a culture of safety within our organization.
Job Summary: The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves conducting training sessions, monitoring safety performance, investigating incidents, and continuously improving safety procedures to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce company safety policies and procedures in compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to all safety regulations and industry’s best practices.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop preventive measures to minimize future risks.
- Provide ongoing training and safety education programs for drivers and employees.
- Maintain records of safety incidents, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs in accordance with federal and company policies.
- Develop and implement driver safety incentive programs to encourage safe driving behaviors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies regarding safety compliance and reporting.
- Collaborate with operations and fleet management to improve overall safety performance.
- Lead safety meetings and communicate safety initiatives effectively throughout the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent(minimum), a Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Transportation Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in safety management within the trucking or transportation industry.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
- Ability to conduct effective safety training and presentations.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or previous trucking industry experience is a plus.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional - CSP) is a plus.
