Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Steel Detailer to join our team in Omaha, NE. The Lead Steel Detailer will play a pivotal role in our fabrication process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the creation of detailed drawings and plans for steel structures. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and clients.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize industry-standard software (such as AutoCAD) to create detailed drawings, plans, and models for steel fabrication projects.
• Review project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to accurately interpret design requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure alignment and clarity in project objectives.
• Provide guidance and support to junior detailers, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
• Work to create detailing standards and guidelines creating a cohesive drafting department company wide.
• Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure that all drawings and plans meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Communicate regularly with clients to address any questions or concerns regarding project specifications and progress.
• Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to facilitate the smooth execution of projects, addressing any design-related issues that may arise during production.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural and/or structural drafting, with a proven track record of success in a similar role.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software, including AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and construction methods.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings and plans.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with team members and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
• Experience in providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members is preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (such as AISC) is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
