*Job Summary:* The Specialty Pharmacy Liaison plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration between healthcare providers, patients, and specialty pharmacy. They serve as a key point of contact, providing expertise and support to ensure seamless coordination of specialty medication services. The liaison works closely with various stakeholders to optimize patient care, enhance medication adherence, and improve overall treatment outcomes.
*Responsibilities:*
* Serve as the primary liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and specialty pharmacy, ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout the medication management process.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify patients who require specialty medications and assist in the prescription and referral process.
* Assist patients with insurance verification, prior authorization, and reimbursement support, collaborating with specialty pharmacy and insurance providers to resolve any issues.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all interactions and interventions in compliance with relevant regulations and confidentiality standards.
* Coordinate with specialty pharmacy to ensure timely delivery of medications, address any issues or delays, and provide ongoing support to patients throughout their treatment journey.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers and specialty pharmacy teams to develop and implement patient-centric care plans, including medication adherence strategies, follow-up protocols, and monitoring parameters.
* Stay updated on the latest advancements in specialty medications, treatment guidelines, and insurance requirements, sharing relevant information with healthcare providers and patients as appropriate.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and enhancement of specialty pharmacy services, protocols, and workflows.
*Qualifications:*
* Proven experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, customer service, medical reception role, preferably with exposure to specialty medications or pharmacy services.
* In-depth knowledge of specialty medications, including their indications, administration techniques, potential side effects, and management strategies.
* Familiarity with insurance and reimbursement processes related to specialty medications, including prior authorization and patient assistance programs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with healthcare providers, patients, and pharmacy teams.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate documentation and timely follow-up on patient-related activities.
* Ability to work independently and proactively identify and address potential issues or barriers to medication access and adherence.
* Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft (Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices related to specialty pharmacy services.
