Role and Responsibilities
The die cutting lead technician role is to drive operating efficiency improvements across all die cutters on all shifts. This roll will entail, but is not limited to;
- Compliance with good manufacturing practices as required.
- Manage hourly staff to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
- Schedule personnel and resources based on staffing levels and production requirements as well as effectively cross train staff for redundant work center coverage.
- Execute disciplinary actions on company policy.
- Driving daily performance on all die cutting machines to maximize efficiency and machine output across all production shifts
- Preparing tooling ahead of planned changeovers
- Maintaining consumable and critical spare parts inventory
- Working with die cutting teams to complete change overs
- Working with die cutting teams to troubleshoot line issues
- Development of technical skills among die cutting team members.
- Oversight of maintenance work on all die cutters both preventative and un-planned
- Development of improved standard work practices
- Communication and or development of designs to improve operations
- Work with internal engineer(s) as needed for implementation and or development of process improvements, machine improvements, and cost reduction
- Ensure quality at each machine including cut quality, score quality, and print quality.
- Work with internal customers to validate products being manufactured meet their requirements and specifications
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining neat work area
- Implantation and auditing of 5S organizational practices
- Facilitate Communication with all production shifts regarding any work practices, machine operations, up coming changeovers, or any other pertinent information.
- Work with production scheduling department to streamline schedules for increased line efficiency, along with allocating line time for needed repairs, operator training, line tests, or any other beneficial downtime.
- Complete any paperwork assigned
Qualifications
- Machine operator experience in a repetitive manufacturing environment
- Mechanical aptitude: skills include, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams
- Experience in driving operational improvements in manufacturing environments
- Must be capable of climbing ladders and/or stairs
- Ability to stand up for an 8 – 12-hour shift
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds throughout the day
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive, and team-oriented environment
- Perform visual quality inspection of finished goods
- Must be capable of cleaning with chemicals using protective gear
- Comply and follow SQP’s food safety and workplace safety policies
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
