What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Owner position at SPECTRAFORCE?
Job Title-: Product Owner
Location-: Dallas Texas- (Hybrid 2-3 days)
Duration-: 6 months (Contract to hire)
The Product Owner will provide coordination on complex systems enhancement projects, utilizing skills that require an understanding of complex business processes and requirements. The incumbent will work to streamline/automate processes, while working with a significant amount of independent authority and judgment. The incumbent will partner with other professional staff on the Information Systems team responsible for business systems analysis and the development of technical solutions to design, develop and implement solutions. The successful candidate will provide highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies which assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
What you can expect:
Discovery / Design
- Drive the user needs/recommendations/requirements discovery-design process following the team’s Design playbook.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders/SMEs, including development teams, business analysts, and end -users, to evaluate, define and prioritize business requirements.
- Provide direction, review, and feedback to the UI/UX design team on mockups and wireframes. In certain scenarios create required UI/UX artifacts.
- Obtain the necessary approval(s) to proceed with requirements and development.
- Maintain a product mindset that prioritizes the customer and focuses on delivering value through the Omnia product.
Technical
- Perform business and system analysis and utilize system designs to create detailed programming specifications or to resolve issues in an Agile environment.
- Work with engineering/developer teams during the development cycle to provide overview of business requirements, answer questions and make engineering process as efficient as possible.
- Understand tools and databases used by PGIM Real Estate to perform detailed analysis and to ensure business designs not only meet business requirements but fit within PGIM Real Estate and standards.
Backlog Refinement & Sprint Execution
- Create user stories and create user stories that meet “Definition of Ready”.
- Lead design reviews, refinement and estimation meetings needed to meet “Definition of Ready”.
- Protect the product (and dev sprints) against scope creep (e.g., enhancements, improvements).
- Participate in required Scrum-Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily standup, demo).
- Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring that user needs are understood and reflected in the product backlog.
Agile: Ways of Working
- Utilize agile methodologies in the development process, from sprint planning to daily stand-ups, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities and recommendations for continuous improvements and work with program leaders to implement.
Delivery and Communication
- Prioritizing features based on business needs and requirements.
- Provide updates on status, timelines, and problems; reviewing final outcomes with the client and obtaining their sign off that work is in accordance with client requirements.
- Apply negotiation skills (trade-off analysis, psychology, etc.) in “selling” the business on iterative development and minimum viable product concepts; not giving into requests for “gold-plating” or “over-engineering”.
Testing and Change Management Leadership
- Lead and support the Integration and UAT testing cycles and events.
- Bring business process knowledge to bear in creation of a detailed test plan.
- Support the business in completing UAT prep (e.g., test scenarios) and execution.
- Support SME testers during UAT, answering questions and providing testing guidance.
- Manage UAT feedback including logging defects and high priority enhancements.
- Work with business to bring features “live”. Support training efforts and user questions.
- Document, test, implement, and provide on-going support for the software applications used by PGIM Real Estate.
What you will bring
- 5 years of experience with business information systems experience (e.g., technology product ownership, business analysis, product management, quality assurance, user acceptance testing, etc.)
- Technical & Analytical Skills:
- Experience in user requirements gathering including business process mapping.
- In-depth knowledge of agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, design tools (such as Figma or Adobe XD), and project management tools (such as Jira or Confluence)
- Experience managing detailed user stories and technical details for engineering.
- Leadership Skills:
- Experience facilitating meetings and presentations with stakeholders across various levels and business groups.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail, delivering high-quality solutions and designs.
- Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving project requirements.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, with effective team building and conflict resolution practices.
