Middle School Head Track Coach
Spectrum High School – Elk River, MN
Spectrum High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Head Track Coach to lead our track and field program for the upcoming season. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are enthusiastic about working with middle school athletes and fostering both athletic and personal development in a positive, competitive environment.
Position Overview:
The Middle School Head Track Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the middle school track and field program, including organizing practices, developing training plans, and providing guidance during meets. The coach will work closely with the Assistant Coaches and student-athletes to ensure their growth in various track and field events while creating a supportive and motivating team atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement practice plans and training sessions for middle school athletes.
- Work with student-athletes across various track and field events (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, etc.).
- Lead warm-ups, drills, conditioning, and event-specific training.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that emphasizes growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Assist with event coaching and manage logistics during track meets.
- Provide constructive feedback and evaluations to help athletes improve their skills and performance.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Coaches and other staff members to support the success and growth of the program.
- Track and monitor athletes' progress in both their athletic and academic development.
- Communicate with athletes, parents, and school staff as needed to ensure program success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in coaching track and field (preferred but not required).
- Background or expertise in specific events (sprints, distance, throws, jumps, etc.).
- A passion for mentoring and developing student-athletes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire middle school athletes.
- Must maintain certification with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
Position Details:
- Start Date: April 2025
- Season Length: April 2025 – Early June 2025
- Compensation: Stipend-based salary (to be discussed based on experience)
- Practice Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday afternoons. Additional time required for meets and events.
