What are the responsibilities and job description for the Print Operations Supervisor position at Spectrum Marketing Companies?
The Spectrum Marketing Companies are looking for a Supervisor of Print Operations to add to our team and provide additional support within these functions. The position will work with and report directly to Spectrum’s VP of Operations. Spectrum works with over 4,000 customers across the country to provide a wide range of marketing communications including direct mail, commercial print, large format signs and similar products. The company’s internal production functions include commercial printing, mail processing, large format printing and graphic design services.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the coordination of the daily production workflow along with or in absence of VP of Operations
• Works with production team, graphic design department, customer service and sales to effectively communicate production lead timelines and ensure successful achievement of project deadlines
• Manage inventory of critical materials
• Ensures equipment is appropriately maintained with consistent preventative maintenance performed appropriately
• Works with vendors and equipment providers to build strong relationships
• Enforces company policies and procedures
• Maintains strict housekeeping and safety standards
• Work with VP of Operations to improve inter-department communications and efficiencies
• Work with VP of Operations to implement ongoing improvements in training, procedures and related reporting aimed at improving quality and reducing errors
Requirements:
• 3-5 years' experience working within a commercial printing operation in a supervisory capacity or similar level of responsibility
• Fully knowledgeable of the print production process including offset and digital
• Experience using workflow management applications
• Must have successfully supervised or managed teams
• Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels
• Computer savvy
Physical Requirements:
• Significant time on feet, standing, walking production floor;
• Periods of sitting at a desk;
• Periods of screen phone time;
• Fine motor skills sufficient for manipulating machinery, presses, phone, keyboarding, samples, deliveries, mail and documentation;
• Ability to distinguish colors and shades;
• Occasional brief lifting of up to 20 pounds – stock and samples, for example.
