What are the responsibilities and job description for the Liquids chemist/QC/QA position at Spectrum Werks?
Development, and maintaining lab operations. Responsibilities include developing and testing new and existing products, collaborating with technical and sales teams, addressing customer concerns, and managing supplier relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Source, research, and test raw materials for products.
- Maintain, service, and troubleshoot lab equipment, tools, and the laboratory environment.
- Update and modify product formulations to optimize costs and improve quality.
- Ensure product quality through QC testing of manufactured materials and preparation of Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Research, develop, and test new products and formulations.
- Troubleshoot job site and production samples as needed.
- Prepare and manage samples for third-party testing.
- Maintain accurate records, including laboratory notebooks, chemical logs, SDS, TDS, and COAs for materials.
- Address customer and sales feedback to modify or improve materials.
- Support and uphold safety procedures, including inspections and maintaining lab safety plans.
- Participate in company and departmental meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel occasionally to events and workshops related to product development and laboratory instrumentation.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in an active laboratory environment.
- Strong research and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of common laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and wet chemistry techniques.
- Solid understanding of organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry.
- Critical thinking and advanced problem-solving abilities in complex, multi-variable scenarios.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Effective verbal communication skills to facilitate collaboration between the lab, production, and sales teams.
- Familiarity with lab safety procedures and adherence to behavior-based safety principles.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively while handling multiple projects.
- Strong written communication skills for scientific documentation and journal writing.
- Excellent math skills, including proficiency in multi-variable algebra.

Pay: $50,017.00 - $80,838.00 per year
