Job Overview
Under general supervision of the Welding Supervisor, you'll be responsible for operating, set up, and possible programing of CNC Lasers and Press Brakes. As the Laser/Press Brake Operator you will perform the operation of fiber and Co2 lasers, CNC Press Brakes. You'll fabricate parts and ensure that products meet Speedway's high-quality standards utilizing efficient operation of equipment.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry <50 lbs. and rarely push/pull up to 100 lbs.Occasional walking and standing. Rare bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting. Occasional work above shoulder level and reach. Frequent pinching, grasping, fine manipulation with fingers and must be able to use power tools. Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Occasional exposure to dust, dirt, steam, fumes-vapor and chemicals. Heated and air-conditioned indoor work as well as rare outdoor activities in varying weather conditions. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.

Shift
- 2nd shift - 4:15pm to 2:45am, Monday through Thursday
- 2nd shift earns a $3.00/hr shift differential
- Compensation will depend on experience level.
- Operate fiber and Co2 lasers to cut parts from various thicknesses of metals.
- Change machine kerf settings to ensure that the machine is cutting to the correct specifications.
- Operate press brakes to bend and form parts to the specifications of the blueprints to ensure accurate and quality parts.
- Use metal fabrication equipment to fabricate parts that may be needed for welding jobs which may include metal cutting tools, press brakes and any other metal fabrication equipment in the department
- Use multiple machines to cut material to drawing specifications.
- Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy, using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Identify and report any defects or discrepancies in materials and finished products.
- Perform regular maintenance checks and minor repairs on machines to maintain optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of production runs, material usage, and machine settings.
- Report production data, including quantities, quality issues, and downtime, to the Welding Supervisor.
- Understand and read blueprints.
- Finish grinding required using manual power tools to smooth weld surfaces - removing burrs, sharp edges and other imperfections from work piece from the laser process when needed.
- Use appropriate PPE and follow established safety regulations and procedures.
- Use tools and equipment to manipulate materials including tube benders, drills, presses, grinders, etc.
- Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize team member workflow, while continuing to meet our customers' needs.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry <50 lbs. and rarely push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- Associates degree in technology or fabrication preferred with a minimum of 1 year of related experience. OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be knowledgeable in reading blueprints, able to read technical manuals, weld symbols and various documents.
- Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of machine shop/welding operations and familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external individuals.
- Strong attention to detail
- All-encompassing machine shop skills and experience preferred
- Basic computer knowledge and skills required
- Must have basic computer knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
