Summary: The Safety Coordinator at the Georgia site is responsible for supporting safety programs, with a primary focus on ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and effective field execution. This role involves hands-on assistance, monitoring safety metrics, and promoting continuous improvement in safety performance and culture. Responsibilities:
- Data Entry & Follow-up: Accurately enter incident, observation, and training data into the Velocity EHS system. Monitor data quality, track missing information, and assist with recordkeeping for safety metrics.
- Training & Communication: Create and deliver training sessions on safety topics such as OSHA compliance, DOT, HazMat, and PSM. Conduct training in classroom, field, and online formats. Coach frontline leaders to incorporate safety into daily operations.
- Investigations & Root Cause Analysis: Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses. Help with documentation, follow-up actions, and tracking corrective measures.
- Hazard Identification & Control: Conduct safety inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and suggest effective control measures. Engage employees to foster safety awareness and participation in hazard identification.
- Equipment Oversight: Maintain industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and handheld radios, ensuring that all safety equipment is properly calibrated, serviced, and operational.
- Incident Support: Assist with emergency responses and coordinate non-emergency medical transport for injured employees. Support follow-up care as needed.
- Field Presence: Stay visible in production areas, engage with employees, identify safety concerns, and support the implementation of safety initiatives.
- Functional Representation: Attend meetings on behalf of the Safety department when the Safety Leader is unavailable. Actively participate in discussions, share updates, and ensure action items are followed up on. Perform other duties as assigned. Ensure compliance with all policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in a safety or technical field preferred, or equivalent experience in an industrial safety role.
- 5 years of safety experience in manufacturing, chemical, or industrial environments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate and consistent work.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and practical experience with DOT, HazMat, and PSM programs.
- Inquisitive and proactive – willing to ask questions, seek new information, and learn new tools and systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly while managing long-term projects alongside daily needs.
- Strong service orientation – consistently demonstrating professionalism and respect for the site’s operational teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with safety systems or data platforms is a plus.
- Effective communicator – able to convey information clearly, concisely, and confidently in both written and verbal forms.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
