Experience Required:
- Minimum 10 years in Fabrication, Manufacturing & Assembly of Heavy Engineering Equipment.
- Proven leadership experience of 3-4 years directly heading the complete shop.
- Team Strength Managed: Approx. 10 people, including staff and workers.
Qualifications:
- BE in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (mandatory).
- Additional qualifications in Welding and AISC Certification are mandatory.
Role Overview:
The Shop Foreman will be responsible for managing the manufacturing process of fabricated engineering products, including the Heavy Fabrication and Assembly of Penstocks, Stop Logs, and Screens. You will lead and manage a team while ensuring that products meet the required quality and delivery standards.
Leadership / General Requirements:
- Must have experience working in a good Engineering and Fabricated-products manufacturing company.
- Leadership Traits: Must be a go-getter, positive attitude, aggressive with a focus on results.
- Experience leading teams of 10-20 people, including Planning Engineers, Assembly Engineers, Technicians (Fitters, Fabricators), and Contractors.
- Experience handling Planning functions and providing Management Information Systems (MIS) reports.
- Strong focus on On-Time Delivery (OTD), ability to coordinate with the team to ensure deadlines are met.
- Lean, 5S, SAP, and BMP knowledge are desirable.
- A team player with a strong ability to manage and coordinate diverse teams and processes.
Technical Requirements:
- Extensive experience in manufacturing heavy fabricated equipment made from stainless steel and carbon steel, weighing up to 10 tons.
- Knowledge of codes such as ASME, DIN, AWS, etc.
- Familiarity with updated fabrication and assembly equipment, tools, and fixtures. Proven experience in process improvements.
- Ability to execute and monitor Shop Plans in line with delivery requirements.
- Deep understanding of latest Fabrication and Assembly technologies and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
- Focus on improving Productivity, OTD, and Cost.
- Experience in capacity planning and monitoring of Planned vs Actual metrics.
- Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.
- Expertise in various welding processes like GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW, and MIG/MAG.
- Ability to lead by example and actively participate in assembly tasks.
- Familiarity with machining topics is required.
- Focus on continual improvements within the shop environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic assemblies is an added advantage.
- Proven experience handling Audits, Inspections, and Documentation.
- Site Services experience is expected.
