Research and Development Technician
Purpose
Assist in product research and development operations relating to biomedical, R&D, process engineering, and pilot manufacturing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support development activities including feasibility and stability studies, both internal and contracted services.
- Work with vendors for external development and testing.
- Perform and support testing required for the development of medical devices.
- Assist in developing new manufacturing processes.
- Support validation and transfer of new manufacturing processes per QSR/cGMP requirements.
- Contribute to writing protocols, procedures, reports, and other documentation, including regulatory filings.
- Handle procurement, installation, qualification, and validation of analytical and test equipment.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment used for chemical and physical analyses.
- Assist in creating prototypes for new devices and collaborate with engineers and designers to refine and improve designs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Education Requirements
- B.S. in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- 2-3 years of experience in the medical device industry.
- 2-3 years of laboratory experience.
- Recent experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as FTIR, UV-Vis, and pH preferred.
- Knowledge of general analytical chemistry and test methods related to medical devices.
- Familiarity with GLP, ISO, and QSR regulations relevant to this role.
- Ability to maintain and troubleshoot test equipment.
- Strong technical writing skills for protocols and procedures.
- Detail-oriented but with an understanding of broader company objectives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
Hybrid position with required in-office presence.
Work environment includes office, laboratory, and production areas.
Frequent communication required via talking or listening.
Role involves prolonged periods of sitting and typing.
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 15 lbs.
Occasional overtime may be required for project completion.
Limited travel (up to 5%), primarily local.
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
