Summary
Spherion has an opportunity for an Accountant/Tax Accountant. This position will prepare tax payments and returns for company clients along with other accounting duties. This is a permanent, year round position.
The successful candidate must have excellent time management skills, ability to meet company deadlines, and excellent communication skills. Tax Accountant responsibilities will include organizing and maintaining records of tax payments and show interest in following changes to tax regulations and laws. Able to recommend tax strategies that comply with laws and promote our company’s financial well-being.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax payments
- Organize and update the company’s tax database
- Recommend tax strategies that align with business goals
- Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns
- Identify tax savings and suggest ways to increase profits
- Follow industry trends and track changes related to taxes
- Liaise with internal and external auditors
- Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including consolidated reports for multi-entity organizations.
- Participating in audits, ensuring all documentation and processes meet regulatory and compliance standards.
- Developing and implementing robust financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy.
- Staying informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices, applying updates to internal processes and documentation.
Required Skills
- Proven work experience as a Tax Accountant, Tax Analyst or Tax Preparer
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- Familiarity with accounting software packages
- Computer literacy (MS Excel in particular)
- Excellent analytical and time management skills
- Strong numeracy skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Willingness to work 50 hours a week during peak season.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant subject is preferred. Industry certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) is preferred or willingness to obtain it.
Salary : $54,000 - $70,000
