Position Overview:
The Spina Bifida Resource Network is seeking an Executive Director for a nonprofit organization working with people with disabilities, who will be responsible for all aspects of running and leading the organization, including program development, oversight and evaluation; budgeting and financial management; strategic planning; fundraising; staff and volunteer supervision; communications and outreach; and general office management. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.
Who we are:
The Spina Bifida Resource Network offers virtual support groups, informative workshops and retreats, financial assistance, social and recreational events and helpful resources for people living with spina bifida and other disabilities. Our mission is to provide educational resources, social events & advocacy programs that empower people with disabilities to challenge perceptions, embrace interdependence & live their best lives. We are a small but mighty organization whose small staff and dedicated volunteers provide needed services and programs in the disability community within NJ and across the country with our online programs.
Qualifications:
· Motivated leader who creates momentum and positive energy.
· College degree or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
· Seven to ten years’ experience in human services and/or nonprofits, preferably with 2-4 years in a supervisory position.
· Experience and/or knowledge of living with disabilities and complex medical conditions.
· Ability to prepare grants, budgets and reports.
· Experience with fundraising through events, activities and solicitations.
· Knowledge of the healthcare and social services systems for people with disabilities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor management systems.
· Adept at using social media.
· Ability to work some evenings and weekends for events and meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General
· Ensure that the organization works to achieve its mission and makes consistent and timely progress.
· Provide leadership in developing and carrying out program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff.
· Provide strategic direction and guidance to staff and volunteers on fundraising campaigns, programming initiatives and event planning.
· Provide resources to staff, volunteers and the community regarding living with spina bifida and other disabilities.
Development and Fundraising
· Oversee the process of acquiring revenue through donations and fundraising activities.
· Research grant opportunities, prepare and submit grants, monitor grant spending and activities and prepare reports.
· With staff and volunteers, direct and monitor fundraising events and activities.
· Solicit donations from the community and businesses and maintain ongoing relationships.
· Develop new fundraising initiatives.
Programs and Services
· Oversee and direct all programs and services.
· Evaluate the outcomes and cost effectiveness of the programs and make adjustments as needed.
· Conduct needs analyses and develop new programs.
Budget and Finance
· Develop and maintain sound financial practices and record keeping.
· Work with the staff and board to prepare operational and programmatic budgets. Monitor that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
· Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work.
Staff and Volunteers
· Be responsible for the recruitment, employment and release of all personnel, including paid staff, consultants and volunteers.
· Ensure that sound human resources practices are in place and followed.
· Provide supervision, guidance and resources as needed.
Communications
· Publicize the activities, programs and goals of the organization.
· Create ongoing content for social media to engage the community and highlight our programs.
· Ensure the website is effective, user-friendly and current.
· Establish working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.
· Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations and the general public.
· Keep the board fully informed on the condition of the organization and important factors influencing it. Prepare materials and reports for board meetings and whenever needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35,000.00 per year
