What you’ll do:
Responsibilities/Duties:

Coordinate with Medical Assistants to ensure all paperwork is properly completed, up to date and patient authorization signatures are obtained.

Communicate with Hospital and ASC’s booking department to make sure all booking packets, forms and other criteria are up to date.

Coordinate provider’s surgical schedule with Hospitals and ASC’s.

Coordinate scheduling conflicts affecting office schedules with Clinical Director and Communications Director.

Schedule emergent and non-emergent cases with hospitals and ASC’s to include:

Insurance Eligibility verification
-
Prior authorization when applicable
-
Pre-surgical testing results
-
Preparation of patients for in-hospital procedures
-
Updating the elective surgical card with all pertinent information

Maintain provider’s surgical schedule for accuracy and potential conflicts regularly.

Arrange for a surgical assistant when required by using OADC PA’s or outside PA’s.

Arrange for outside services when needed such as instrumentation, etc.

Receive incoming live calls and triage to appropriate MD or clinical staff.

Triage appointments for phone/reception staff looking for appropriate patient appointments.

Throughout the day, retrieve phone messages left on both the main line and prescription refill line; forwarding these messages to MD’s and their medical assistants.

Call back patients if their MD is unavailable.

Take incoming calls from the ER’s and send to MD/PA on call.

Review patient’s results and forward clinical values.

Receive incoming calls from outside medical care as dictated by our medical doctors.

Foster positive attitudes, team spirit and trust as means to enhance productivity.

Maintain a professional work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with patients, physicians, coworkers and administration

Qualifications
Who you are:
Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years surgical scheduling experience

Extensive knowledge of Orthopedic surgical procedures

Knowledge of Insurance prior authorization guidelines
-
Polite telephone etiquette and good communication skills (written and oral)

Computer literacy skills preferred, including practice management software, EMR, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Detail Oriented and strong organizational skills preferred

High School Diploma or equivalent; required
