Position: EMS Supervisor
Job Summary: As an EMS Supervisor at Spirit EMS, you will oversee daily operations and personnel for assigned stations and shifts. Reporting to the Director of Operations for operational activities and the Medical Director for clinical quality, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and personnel for assigned shifts.
- Provide emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation.
- Maintain compliance with medical protocols, company policies, and state regulations.
- Ensure security and privacy of company and patient information.
- Set an example of professionalism and leadership.
- Ensure ambulances and equipment are ready for use, including cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, and restocking.
- Maintain communication with dispatch, medical control, and other agencies.
- Assist with training, orientation, and evaluation of new field staff.
- Handle administrative tasks such as dealing with vehicle breakdowns, employee issues, and customer complaints.
- Ensure compliance with controlled substances regulations.
- Act as a team leader in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Provide guidance and support to field crews.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
Work Environment:
- Work both indoors and outdoors with exposure to all types of weather.
- Possible exposure to moderate noise levels and poorly lit environments.
- Long periods inside the ambulance, working near moving mechanical parts.
Physical Requirements:
- Moderate to extended amounts of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Routinely lift over 200 lbs with assistance.
- Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in various environments.
- Perform tasks requiring physical stamina, including pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and stair climbing.
- Wear a face mask or respirator for extended periods when required.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance for all shifts.
Mental Requirements:
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
- Adaptable to change and capable of functioning in a team-based environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic with strong communication skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current State of Indiana EMT certification.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lead, evaluate, coach, train, and direct field staff.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
