What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Special Education position at Spirit Lake Middle School?
Spirit Lake Middle School seeks a special education teacher for the 2025-26 school year. Candidates should have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with identified students and general education teachers in grades 5-8. Candidates must be able to build relationships and trust with students, which leads to improvement of students’ academic and life skills. Based on individual student needs, instructors must work with classroom teachers to provide general education adaptations to match the student’s skill level. Candidates should be licensed through the Iowa BOEE in Special Education, holding minimally an Instructional Strategist I certification.
The district is open to long term substitutions for second semester or other arrangements as needed for desired applicants. There are also numerous opportunities for coaching and extra curricular activity supervision opportunities available within our district.
