Job Summary:
SPL is growing and is currently looking for a Portable GC Technician in Midland, TX. The Portable GC Technician must be team-oriented, proactive and goal driven. This position will install, maintain and calibrate gas and liquid meters and associated mechanical and electronic systems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Obtain gas and liquid samples and transport both hazardous and non- hazardous materials to and from client site(s);
- Handle special client requests, including some call out possibilities;
- Run test methods on client samples using automatic GC apparatus;
- Integrate GC data using EZ Chrom software;
- Perform job duties onshore and offshore, utilizing a company vehicle and transportation by helicopter, boat, seaplane, etc.;
- Perform weekly calibration of GC apparatus;
- Change helium, hydrogen, and instrument air;
- Maintenance of work schedule with customers and SPL and provide notification of any changes are made to appropriate personnel;
- Perform assignments at the office on non-scheduled days;
- Maintain and account for assigned SPL property, including tools, company vehicle, cell phone, laptop, calibration equipment, and parts;
- Properly prepare all necessary paperwork and documentation of service performed on a timely basis and submit to appropriate SPL office personnel for processing;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some previous work experience is desired;
- Electronics and mechanical experience knowledge skills is preferred;
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record;
- Must be able to safely operate company vehicles.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Relocation:
This position is not eligible for relocation.
Travel Requirements:
Out-of-town stay and/or offshore stay is sometimes required.
Work Schedule:
This position will work 8-16 hours Monday-Friday in SPL’s Midland, TX location. This position is subject to overtime availability to meet deadlines. May be required to be part of the "On Call" program on a rotating schedule. These hours can be extended into weekends and holidays.
