BANQUET CAPTAIN / EVENT ASSISTANT
POSITION OVERVIEW
Join the prestigious Spokane Club as a Banquet Captain/Event Assistant, where you'll orchestrate exceptional events in our nine versatile venues. Working directly with our Banquet Manager, you'll ensure flawless execution of events ranging from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations of up to 500 guests. This key leadership role involves coordinating all aspects of event service, from elegant setup to seamless execution and efficient breakdown.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the Banquet Manager to deliver exceptional service experiences across all events
- Supervise wait staff, ensuring professional appearance, demeanor, and service standards
- Coordinate between service and culinary teams to maintain precise event timelines
- Oversee event setup, including room arrangements, table decorations, and presentation details
- Serve as the primary point of contact during events, anticipating and resolving service challenges
- Direct the breakdown and reset of event spaces according to Club standards
- Maintain exceptional quality and attention to detail throughout the guest experience
SCHEDULE
This position requires flexibility, including weekday shifts, Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays to accommodate our diverse event calendar.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in banquet/catering service within a full-service facility, resort, or hotel
- High school diploma required; college degree or culinary education advantageous
- Valid Washington State Food & Beverage Permit
- Class 12 or 13 Alcohol Server Permit preferred
- Comprehensive wine knowledge including varieties, service techniques, and food pairings
- Strong understanding of food and beverage preparation, service standards, and hospitality etiquette
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Physical capability for extended standing, walking, and frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling
- Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment
- Capacity to excel under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting
