SNAP is seeking an Affordable Housing Maintenance Technician I (RD) to maintain and improve an 18-unit USDA Rural Development Affordable Housing Property in Republic, WA. Join a dedicated team working to ensure affordable housing units are safe, functional, and welcoming for residents.
Located in Republic Washington. This position is half-time, 20 hours per week.

Starting salary for this position is $17.24-$19.30 per hour DOE
Full range is $17.24-$27.13 per hour
Position Summary: Provide maintenance support for one 18-unit USDA Rural Development Affordable Housing Property. Special emphasis is paid to post occupancy unit maintenance, property wide preventative maintenance and coordination with third party vendors. The Affordable Housing Maintenance Tech-1 (RD) will primarily repair and make improvements to multi-family housing. Work involves minor repairs to plumbing, toilets, electrical, water heaters, entry doors, windows, roof repair, ADA Accommodations, gutters, CO2/smoke alarm installation, steps, railings, painting, and cabinets. Other general repairs may arise.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides post occupancy maintenance of affordable housing units.
- Participate in annual unit inspection for all affordable housing units.
- Assist in the execution of preventative maintenance program across the portfolio.
- Responds promptly, troubleshoots and performs repairs of individual units, building systems and equipment.
- Responsible for cleanliness of equipment, tools & vehicles.
- Manage the procurement and management of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion.
- Process Purchase Orders for all purchases.
- Coordinate with third party vendors and contractors as directed.
- Completes assigned projects and performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
- Works with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful, and productive working environment, while protecting client confidentiality and dignity.
- Within the context of the stated principal job duties, serves as ambassador of SNAP’s mission and values.
- Provides excellent customer service at all times as well as helps to grow the customer service culture within the agency.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Required: High School or equivalent; 2 years of experience in all phases of minor home repair, general construction including installation of doors and windows, cabinet.
- Preferred: High School or equivalent; 5 years of experience in all phases of minor home repair and/or weatherization work. General carpentry, plumbing and electrical certifications. HVAC certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income and vulnerable people, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information.
- Ability to safely use construction and insulation tools, materials, and equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing techniques used in home repairs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on effectively working in a team environment and with a diverse population.
- Ability to complete paperwork in a legible manner.
Training and Certifications
- Valid drivers license and good driving record
- Fair Housing Training or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Certificate for apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire. (training provided)
- Lead based paint (training provided)
- Other training as warranted for the program (training provided)
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
This position requires working in seasonal heat and cold. Must be able to safely perform physical aspects of the job including lifting up to 85 pounds, pulling, transporting, handling equipment and materials, crawling, and using step ladders. Frequently works in confined spaces, such as beneath floors and in attics and crawl spaces. May require working on rooftops and other potentially hazardous areas. May be exposed to dusty, wet, muddy, poorly ventilated and occasionally unsanitary environments. May be exposed to fumes and substances including paint, solvents, and other materials.
