Facilities Specialist I
NATURE OF WORK:
Assist and performs maintenance, safety, and management tasks that promote a clean, operable, and safe working environment for District employees and guests.
SUPERVISION:
Employee works closely with the Facilities Specialist II and/or the Facilities Manager according to event schedules, maintenance, and event requirements. Reports to the Facilities Services Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Executes requests assigned by supervisor.
- Perform regular and emergency repair of interior and exterior building systems and structure.
- Perform regular and emergency maintenance of District grounds, equipment, and assets, achieving established standards for public use and enjoyment.
- Assists in responding to and establish alternate operating modes for malfunctions of personal service systems, i.e., elevators, escalators, automated entryways, lockset core programming.
- Routine inspection and documentation of all life safety equipment, i.e., door self-closing hardware, lighted exit signs.
- Maintains and services all District rolling stock for optimal performance and longevity, i.e., fork trucks, gators, utv's, pickup trucks.
- Adhere to safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
- Maintains the operability of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots, and outdoor spaces in all venues and on District Campuses Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed.
- Conducting routine inspections and emergency repairs both self-performed and with outside vendors.
- Assists with maintaining day-to-day operations of facilities.
- Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for supervisors and other District staff.
- Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions.
- Work is medium to heavy in nature and requires concentrated attention to prevent errors and is performed under normal working conditions.
- Will be required to work extended hours, when necessary, which may include extended hours in a day, anytime day/night, weekends, and holidays.
- May be required to work odd and unusual hours.
- Promotes both internal and external guest services, including fellow employees, contract service providers, event personnel and event attendees.
- Performs other work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Knowledge of building trades, contracting and purchasing procedures, and industry-established repair methods and techniques.
- Communicate technical information both orally and in writing with both technical/trades and non-technical personnel.
- Estimate and plan needed repairs or maintenance and follow established instructions for the work.
SALARY AND STATUS
$21.84 - $31.67 Non-exempt
