What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Registration - Casual (every other weekend) position at SPOONER HEALTH SYSTEM INC.?
Patient Registration staff are responsible for performing a variety of duties related to reception, registration, and switchboard functions. This position ensures accurate documentation of outpatient and emergency admissions by collecting patient/guarantor information and entering it into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Additionally, they explain hospital policies, financial responsibilities, and patient rights to patients and families.
- Gathers and verifies patient demographic information and obtains necessary signatures.
- Determines the appropriate payer and verifies insurance information.
- Accurately inputs data into EHR and reviews prior day’s registrations for accuracy.
- Handles patient admissions, including same-day admissions and late-night admissions.
- Collects co-pays and processes payments using the correct procedures.
- Manages switchboard functions, including paging staff and routing calls.
- Resolves patient inquiries and issues in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to changing situations and policies.
- Adheres to HIPAA protocols and upholds compliance objectives.
Skills: Keyboard proficiency; previous experience with computer systems; medical terminology is a plus; basic math skills
