Information Technology Specialist

Silver Falls Capital is hiring an IT Specialist to strategically develop the IT infrastructure, from hardware to cloud, partnering with our businesses to provide a modern, secure, and productive IT environment, streamline common processes, and manage critical data. Working closely with the CTO, they will create and own the IT Roadmap to support the growth of the portfolio of companies under management and work closely with third-party support and application providers. The IT Specialist will also oversee the day-to-day IT operations for all staff, including company-specific applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the IT Specialist position. This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed as a result to meet changing business needs.

Strategic

• Devise, establish, evolve, and enforce IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by Silver Falls’ leadership
• Assess the business requirements of all companies and departments to determine their technology needs, including both back office and on the manufacturing floor
• Design and implement information systems so that they are effective and robust
• Ensure all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations
• Evaluate technology risks and develop resilience and disaster recovery plans
• Remain up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices with a view to continuous improvement of the SFC infrastructure

Operations

• Establish and implement security policies to protect company information and resources
• Ensure the availability of the company’s physical and virtual networks
• Monitor daily operations, including hardware, operating systems, and business applications
• Ensure rapid response, working with 3rd party IT support, to issues as they arise

Projects

• Plan and coordinate technology installations, upgrades, migrations and maintenance
• Select and purchase new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary
• Become the subject matter expert in all company-related applications, such as Quickbooks, Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Aptean ERP

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field
• Five years minimum in IT Roles with escalating responsibilities
• Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and services
• Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, and IT security
• Proficient in the Microsoft ecosystem including Windows 11, Office 365, Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience using PowerApps and PowerShell to script common workflows, e.g., for employee onboarding
• Experience with one or more of Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Aptean ERP would be an advantage.
