Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking student-focused, dedicated Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in Head Start classrooms for the 2025-2026 School Year.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assists with evaluating and testing students
- Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
- Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
- Monitors students whereabouts and observe student safety
- Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty

Education and Experience:
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or enrollment in CDA
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting
- Ability to successfully complete and maintain a Basic First Aid and CPR certification
Preferred
- Knowledge of teaching strategies across elementary grade levels and basic understanding of how children learn

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees. New employees to Spotsylvania County will be compensated for up to 20 years of experience.
