Job Overview
Sprecher Brewing Co. is hiring a experienced Financial Controller to join our finance team. The Controller will manage the accounting department and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to manage the financial reporting and accounting requirements for the entire company.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily reporting (sales, cash etc.) and timely month end close (six working days after month end). Provides status of financial condition by reporting, analyzing, and interpreting the month end data.
- Responsible for the accuracy and completion of the federal, state, and local tax requirements such as sales tax reports, real and personal property tax returns, and income tax returns.
- Responsible for monitoring debt covenants in the various loan agreements.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the financial staff including training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Assists with bi-weekly payroll processing plus the various benefit administration functions that entails.
- Assists in the development and calculation of commissions and bonus plans.
- Responsible for year-end close and working with external auditors so year-end financial statements are completed timely.
- Prepares current year forecast allowing the Leadership Team to see how the business is trending and what future cash needs may be.
- Leads the annual budget process. Working with the business to develop budgets that are aggressive but attainable.
- Provides financial analysis on future capital expenditure projects as well as various customer proposals.
- Provides customer and product line profitability.
- Responsible for annual insurance renewal and audit and participates in annual health insurance renewal.
- Participates in any merger and acquisition activity, including, but not limited to, financial forecasting, due diligence, and integration.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Qualifications / Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance – CPA a plus.
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance.
- Human Resource experience a plus.
- Experience with financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software required, Microsoft Great Plains software experience a plus.
- Must have experience managing processes, developing standards, and creating and tracking budgets.
- Working knowledge of tax codes and laws.
- Proven proficiency in auditing, accounting, and corporate finance.
- High level of financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform all essential functions and physical demands of the job.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, while focusing on meeting and exceeding expectations.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and frequent use of a computer
