What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Vocational Nurse-Pitner position at Spring Branch Community Health Center?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND LIMITATIONS :
- Monitors quality of care through direct observation, supervises that appropriate logs are kept including medication inventory, sample medication, oxygen tank pressure, refrigerator / freezer / lab temperatures, immunization inventory, exam room check lists, crash cart log. Counts and logs medication inventories and vaccine inventories. Orders clinic supplies, vaccines, and medications as needed. Maintains vaccine inventory and reports within VAOS.
- Monitors referrals, incoming fax documents, notifies patients of lab results from providers written orders and documents attempts and patient acknowledgement in electronic health record appropriately.
- Monitors and completes nurse visits with written or standing orders from providers. Performs procedures including but not limited to administering medications, injections, collecting specimens, electrocardiogram, hearing test, vision tests, in-house point of care testing, lab draws, and ear lavage.
- Monitors Prescription Refill Coordinator's day to day workflows and backlogs and provides support to complete refills in timely manner.
- Acts as supervisor to clinical staff in collaboration with Health Center Managers.
- Actively provides willingness to help and maintain professional relationships with coworkers.
- Collaborates with ADON and DON to implement quality initiatives.
- Collaborates with Health Center Managers to ensure efficient daily patient flow and ensure Joint Commission, HRSA, and insurance audit compliance including but not limited to chart reviews and EOC walkthroughs.
- VFC Vaccine Coordinator responsibilities.

- Upholds strict patient confidentiality requirements required by federal and state law.
- Perform other duties as assigned, within scope of practice.
- Attends all staff meetings and mandatory in-service meetings.
- Participates in Compliance, Risk and Safety, and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Observes and acknowledges all SBCHC policies and procedures, including all emergency and disaster response responsibilities.
- Always greets patients, visitors and all SBCHC staff in a courteous and respectful manner; responds to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills; consistently handles all requests in a positive manner.QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Active and current unencumbered Texas license to practice as a LVN
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) or BLS equivalent
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience in Federally Qualified Health Center or similar setting, preferred
- Multilingual, English / Spanish is strongly preferred
- Available for all shifts / assignments and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends with the ability to travel to all SBCHC clinics.BENEFITS
