Role Overview:
Join Spring Financial Personal Financial App, a leader in innovative financial technology, where we improve operational efficiencies and revolutionize data interactions through advanced backend solutions. As a Backend Developer, you will be integral to developing, optimizing, and scaling our backend systems that support seamless user interactions and robust application flows.
NOTE: This is a full-time, on-site position located at our downtown Vancouver office.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Developing, enhancing and maintaining in-house, and customer-facing applications
- Focusing primarily on backend work with Python/JavaScript
- Work on service integrations with third party APIs
- Working in backend frameworks such as Flask, Django, Express JS, etc.
- Design and implement robust backend architectures for high-volume data interactions.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure optimal user experience.
- Mentoring and leading junior/intermediate developers
- Ensure sufficient code coverage by writing effective unit tests
- Creating technical documentations and respective JIRA tasks the requirements
- Socialize JIRA stories/tasks you are responsible for with team members
- Actively participate in architectural systems design along with senior team members
- Working closely with project managers, quality and business analysts to ensure the completion of projects on time with the quality expected
- Being part of exciting multidisciplinary projects that might require interaction with Front End, Data Science, DevOps teams.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- 4 years of professional experience with Python (Flask, Django), including SQLAlchemy for ORM.
- 5 years of experience with Relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Strong understanding of system design, scalable architecture, and software development best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) ensuring high test coverage with unit and integration tests.
- Extensive experience in developing RESTful backend APIs and seamlessly integrating third-party APIs.
- Experience with task queues using Celery for background job processing.
- Experience with caching databases such as Redis and Cassandra is a bonus.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) using Jira and Confluence.
- Cloud computing knowledge (AWS, GCP) is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in version control (Git) and experience with GitFlow are required.
Bonus: Experience in front-end development using React and/or Flutter.

Salary : $90,000 - $130,000
