JOB TITLE: Campus Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach
REPORTS TO: Principal / Athletic Director
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Campus Athletic Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the District’s athletic programs and philosophies, as well as for coordinating the program in the high school with the feeder middle schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
Preferred:
- Four years of experience coaching football
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Advanced knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
MAJOR REPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Implements the athletic programs for the high schools and feeder middle schools.
- Works with the high school and middle school principals in the recruitment, selection and scheduling of coaches.
- Works with the coaching staff to implement the skills, strategies, rules and game plans for each sport.
- Works with the coaching staff to ensure adherence to University Interscholastic League and District regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
- Works with the coaching staff to promote team appreciation of physical health, competition and good sportsmanship.
- Works with the coaching staff to assure conduct that exemplifies respect for the individual and appreciation for teamwork.
- Works with the coaching staff to provide proper supervision of team members during all practices, games, travel and related athletic events.
- Coordinates the care and use of the athletic facilities.
- Coordinates with the Director of Athletics and works with the coaching staff to provide access to the facilities for practices and games.
- Works with the building staff in coordinating the use of athletic facilities in preparing the school calendar.
- Ensures that all campus courts, tracks, and fields are in proper condition for athletic events.
- Ensures that athletic training facilities are clean and in good repair.
- Supervises or designates someone to supervise the athletic facility whenever it is in use.
- Arranges sharing of space and facilities among sports within the constraints of school schedules.
- Encourages an appreciation for concern for the care of District facilities through work with the coaching staff and team members.
- Submits requests for repair to the Director of Athletics.
- Organizes the instruction of the assigned sport.
- Plans long-range and short-term goals for the program and the athletes.
- Reviews and updates the athletic program as needed.
- Encourages high academic standards by regularly reviewing athletes’ grades.
- Develops basic and advanced skills.

- Provides a method of maintaining an inventory of equipment and uniforms.
- Reports to the Athletic Director items in need of repair or replacement.
- Organizes a system of cleaning and storing equipment.
- Organizes a system of cleaning uniforms.
- Develops budget proposals for the program.
- Submits budget requests to the building principals based on requests received from head coaches.
- Plans for accurate accounting of all funds received and disbursed.
- Organizes the administration of the program.
- Compiles accurate eligibility lists and files them with the principal.
- Maintains current accurate squad reports and rosters and files them with the head trainer.
- Assures that game reports and injury reports are sent to University Interscholastic League as required.
- Submits all sub-varsity scores to the Director of Athletics at the end of each week.
- Coordinates provision of transportation for each athletic event.
- Orients new coaches.
- Assists the principal in evaluation of high school coaches in their coaching responsibilities.
- Provides supervision of all home athletic events.
- Schedules the facility and personnel for all campus athletic events.
- Checks the public address system, field phones and scoreboard.
- Arranges dressing space and hospitality for officials, coaches and visiting teams.
- Arranges chain crews and announcers for sub-varsity football games.
- Works closely with Athletic Booster Club.
- Attends all meetings.
- Informs club of University Interscholastic League rules, especially in the area of gifts and awards.
- Works with the coaching staff to develop good community relations through the example they set through appearance at appropriate events.
- Complies with the position description of the classroom teacher.
- Supports the overall instructional program of the school.
- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Frequent district and occasional statewide travel; prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor and indoor work; exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
